History of Our Club

The La Canada Flintridge Republican Committee was founded in 1993 by members of the former branch of the California Republican Assembly. The objective of the newly founded club was to provide a "big tent" for Republicans who were residents of the city and the surrounding Crescenta Canada valley. More specifically, the founders wanted to create an organization that represented the shared values of Republicans who lived and worked in the City of La Canada Flintridge, California whether they called themselves conservative Republicans, Liberal Republicans, or Moderate Republicans, the objective was to create an organization were Republicans could share certain common basic values.

Then as the "club" evolved the members saw themselves more as a committee of local Republicans who shared common values, rather than as a club with a mechanistic organization of strict hierarchical make up. The first chairman of the committee was Al Restivo who continues to this day to chair the committee. The founding Vice Chairman was Warren Jacob, a young attorney. The treasurer was Jim Stauffer an investment specialist, and the job of Secretary went to James Busallachi, a young law student.

Today the membership of the club has grown to over 100 members and continues to grow as residents learn that the club is made up of a hospitable group of local citizens who share the same values and want to ensure that government at the local, state and federal levels is led by Republican who share their values. The club consists of members who form a Committee of the Whole and is governed by a Board of Directors who meet monthly to set policy and guide the organization.

The club meets monthly on the fourth Monday at 6:30 P.M. of the month for a dinner meeting at Beckham Grill in Pasadena or in one of the homes of a member. Watch for announcements on our Home Page for time and place of future meetings.
